PO SERIES PO

APPLICATION:  PO Screen printing inks are suitable for use on most pretreated polyolefins, such as polyethylene and polypropylene, as well as various coated metals, wood and cardboard. However, due to different surface properties of the polyolefins pre tests are required.

NOTE: Pretest all substrates prior to use in production.

CHARACTERISTICS:  PO inks are quick drying single component printing inks and exhibit medium to good opacity with a gloss finish. PO inks may also be processed as a two component system with catalyst mixed in a ratio of 20:1 by weight. Addition of catalyst will result in increased resistance.

PIGMENTS/LIGHTFASTNESS:  PO inks are available in C-Mix 2000 blending shades, 4 color process and metallics. If blended inks are mixed to contain high contents of white or clear, lightfastness is reduced.

MODIFICATION:  Prior to processing, the viscosity of PO inks must be adjusted approx. 5-25% by weight with one or a combination the following modifiers: ZVS, ZVH and ZD. Universal thinners UV1 to UV4 are also available.

PO inks can also be processed as a two-component system with either of the following catalysts.

ZH: -confers high chemical resistance but short pot-life, and tends to yellow when exposed to high temperatures.

ZH-N00: -confers medium resistance with extended pot-life and is non-yellowing.

Both catalysts are mixed at a ratio of 20:1, ink to catalyst. The pot-life is approx. 4-12 hours.

DRYING:  PO inks air drying by evaporation of solvents. Drying time is approx. 5-10 min at room temperature. Drying times of 30-40 sec. can be achieved in a belt dryer at temperatures of approx.104-156° F (40-70° C). If processed as a two-component system, allow 24 hours for complete cross-linking and resistance properties.

BRONZE INKS:  For printing of metallic decorative inks bronze pastes B75 to B79 are available. Bronze pastes must be blended with mixing clear, PO-E50, prior to processing. Mixing ratios by weight should be:

If bronze prints have to be overprinted, we recommend an additional 10-30% of PO-E50. In all cases it is essential to check overprintability. Bronze prints tend to

oxidize when exposed to the atmosphere. Overprinting the bronze inks will delay this oxidizing process for some time.

COVERAGE:  When printed through a 230/in. (90/cm) mesh, one gallon of PO inks will cover approx. 1200 square feet.

STENCIL:  Direct photoemulsion, capillary film, indirect stencils or solvent-resistant hand-cut films.

SQUEEGEE:  Medium to hard durometer urethane squeegee.

CLEANING:  PO inks can be removed from stencils and tools using universal cleaning agent URS or URS3.

HEALTH AND SAFETY:  As with all inks, gloves and safety goggles should be used when handling this product. For more complete information, refer to the relevant Material Safety Data Sheet.
